360° films - Ministry of the Armed Forces remembrance sites

Better than a virtual tour, 360° videos enable you to see a remembrance site as if you were actually there!  You control the angle from which you look at the site. You can change it to any direction you like: up, down, behind you or either side. You are completely immersed in your surroundings.

You can have the experience on your computer but, to get the most out of these immersive videos, a simple VR headset/Google Cardboard viewer + smartphone is the best solution. Before loading your phone into your Cardboard viewer, activate 360° viewer mode by pressing the “Cardboard” icon on your smartphone screen when you’re on the YouTube page of the 360° tour you want to take.

Discover some emblematic sites of contemporary conflicts: the military cemeteries of Notre Dame de Lorette and Vercors, Montluc Prison National Memorial in Lyon and the Memorial to the Landings and Liberation of Provence, in Toulon, are already accessible!

Memorial to the Martyrs of Deportation (Paris)

This virtual tour takes you into a memorial designed by architect Georges-Henri Pingusson, in memory of those who were deported from France to the Nazi concentration camps during the Second World War. A Major National Remembrance Site (HLMN) under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, its design is suggestive of the sufferings of deportees in the concentration camps, with a timeless space in which the eyes are deprived of a horizon. 

National Cemetery of Fleury-devant-Douaumont (Meuse)

This virtual tour takes you into this vast cemetery of over 16 000 graves. A Major National Remembrance Site (HLMN) under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, together with the Bayonet Trench it forms an emblematic site of the Verdun battlefield, which honours the sacrifice of French soldiers.

National Cemetery of Notre Dame de Lorette (Pas-de-Calais)

Step inside the biggest French military cemetery in the region (over 43 000 bodies are buried here in individual graves or ossuaries). A Major National Remembrance Site (HLMN) under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, it recalls the sacrifice of the soldiers who died for France on the Artois and Flanders fronts during the First World War.

Cemeteries of Vercors (Drôme/Isère)

Visit three emblematic sites in memory of the fighting in Vercors: the cemeteries of Saint Nizier du Moucherette and Pas de l’Aiguille, in Isère, and that of Vassieux-en-Vercors, in Drôme. At the end of the Second World War, these three military cemeteries were created to bury the men and women, Resistance members and civilians, who died for France during the repression of summer 1944.

Montluc Prison National Memorial (Lyon)

The former prison where over 10 000 people were interned during the occupation, including Jean Moulin and the Children of Izieu. A Major National Remembrance Site (HLMN) under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, it is one of the emblematic sites of the German policies of repression and persecution in the Lyon area during the Second World War.

Memorial to the Landings and Liberation of Provence in Toulon (Var)

Devoted to the Allied landings of 15 August 1944 and the liberation of Provence. A Major National Remembrance Site (HLMN) under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, the memorial, whose visitor trail was renovated in 2017, immerses the public in the heart of this crucial event of the Second World War, embodied through the fates of the soldiers who experienced it and the memory of their sacrifice.
